HiWAAY's Management Staff

Charles Boley
Charles has been with HiWAAY Internet Services since the company's early days. He came to work for HiWAAY in 1995 as Customer Support, Web Designer and System Administrator, from Nuance, an Internet company acquired by HiWAAY.

Charles is HiWAAY's Technical Support Manager. He is in charge of the Technical Support Department, which helps customers with any problems they have related to using the Internet. He also manages the HiWAAY Computer Clinic.

Charles graduated from Athens State College with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and took graduate courses from Vanderbilt University.

He has 26 years of experience working with computers, networks and security, 14 of those with Internet companies. Charles is a Perl and SQL programmer who has created many of the tools used by HiWAAY Technical Support to help customers. He also maintains HiWAAY's ticket tracking system for customer calls and writes and maintains numerous other software projects for the Support and other departments.

Charles is usually surrounded by numerous computers that he uses to aid HiWAAY's support staff in answering questions and creating fixes for troubling Internet problems. He maintains HiWAAY's technical FAQs and writes articles about viruses, worms and Internet security, as well as presenting security awareness lectures to businesses in the state.

Charles works with customers to fight viruses, worms, spyware and other security issues. He started HiWAAY's Computer Clinic to help computer users from any ISP to rid their computers of these pests.

His interests include birding, astronomy, microscopy, book collecting and reading, particularly history, science, hard science fiction and books about book and printing history. Charles is also a licensed amateur radio operator. His call sign is KI4VFW.

Kathi Manley
Kathi has been HiWAAY's Controller since she joined the company in 1998. Before coming to HiWAAY, she was a Senior Financial Analyst in the Corporate Finance and Public Safety divisions of Intergraph Corporation. She has also served as Controller of a publicly traded bagel manufacturing and restaurant company and Controller of a data center for savings & loan institutions.

Kathi's experience includes the management of mergers and acquisitions, as well as SEC reporting. Through these various positions, Kathi has had leadership roles in implementing several different integrated accounting software applications in SQL- and Oracle-based systems.

Kathi graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1986, and earned her CPA designation in January 1987.

She has been actively involved in the Oklahoma Society of CPAs and the OSCPA Members in Industry committee and the Oklahoma City chapter of the OSCPA, as well as the Huntsville chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants.

Having moved here from another Tornado Alley, Kathi is a transplant who loves the mountains, trees and rivers of Alabama. She is also an enthusiastic tennis player and a member of USTA.

Derric Scott
Derric is the Manager for HiWAAY's Internet facilities and HiWAAY's Network Services division. He was president and owner of Scott Network Services, Inc., a Birmingham-based Internet Service Provider, from 1994 until HiWAAY acquired the company in 1999.

Derric has Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering.

Brad Towery
Brad is HiWAAY's Corporate Sales Manager. He leads the corporate sales teams in Huntsville and Birmingham, which are responsible for Internet-related sales to businesses and corporations. He has more than a decade of Internet experience.

Brad came to HiWAAY in 1999 as a Corporate Sales Representative from liveonthenet.com, a spin-off company from Traveller Information Services, an Internet company acquired by HiWAAY. After six months as a sales representative, Brad was promoted to Corporate Sales Manager.
